For most families, the summer holiday takes shape around a single date: the last day of term. It is the afternoon the final bell rings, the suitcases come down from the loft and the conversation turns to long days by the sea. Many parents who are already thinking about summer 2027 therefore start with the same questions: when do the summer holidays begin, and which weeks are the best for a family break in Antalya?
We have written this guide to go beyond the dates and look at the summer week by week, through the eyes of a family with children. From the quiet shores of late June to the long days of July, from the August peak when school holidays in Turkey, Germany and the UK overlap to the calm, warm sea of early September, we explain which period suits which family, drawing on our experience at Kirman Premium's five hotels on the Side and Okurcalar coastlines.
When do the summer holidays 2027 start? In England and Wales, most schools break up for the summer around 21-23 July 2027, although exact dates are set by each local council or academy trust. In Turkey, the school year ends on Friday 25 June 2027, and in Germany the Sommerferien begin between 28 June (Hesse) and 2 August (Bavaria), depending on the federal state. Check your own school's calendar before you book.
The first step in planning a summer holiday is to bring the fixed dates together. For British families, the key date is the end of the summer term, which in most parts of England and Wales falls around 21-23 July 2027. Because term dates are set locally, the exact day can differ by a few days from one council to the next, so it is always worth checking your school's published calendar first.
Antalya's coast welcomes families not only from the UK, but also from Turkey and Germany, and the busiest weeks are shaped by the moment these school calendars overlap. The table below brings the key dates of summer 2027 together at a glance.
| Period | 2027 dates | Who it affects |
|---|---|---|
| End of the school year | Friday 25 June | Turkey |
| Sommerferien (Hesse) | 28 June-6 August | Germany |
| Sommerferien (Berlin) | 1 July-14 August | Germany |
| Sommerferien (Lower Saxony) | 8 July-18 August | Germany |
| Sommerferien (North Rhine-Westphalia) | 19 July-31 August | Germany |
| Summer holidays | From around 21-23 July, varies by council | UK |
| Sommerferien (Baden-Württemberg) | 29 July-11 September | Germany |
| Sommerferien (Bavaria) | 2 August-13 September | Germany |
| August bank holiday | Monday 30 August | UK |
| Victory Day | Monday 30 August, long weekend 28-30 August | Turkey |
The picture is clear. Turkish families and the first German states head off at the end of June, North Rhine-Westphalia and the UK join from the second half of July, and by the first days of August, with Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria added, all three major markets are on holiday at the same time. All of these dates are already known, which means that for a family tied to the school calendar the real uncertainty is not when to travel, but whether the preferred room type will still be available. We look at this in more detail in our 2027 early booking guide.
The last week of June is perhaps the most balanced time of summer for families who are free to travel. The weather has settled into proper summer warmth and the sea is inviting, yet with schools across much of Europe still in session, the coast is noticeably calmer than in July and August. For British families, this window is usually available only to those with pre-school children, which makes it one of the quietest and most relaxed periods of the season.
Families who travel in this period often want to recharge after a long year, give their little ones a first taste of the sea and plan the rest of the summer at an easier pace. You will find our recommendations for the early weeks of summer in our early summer family holiday guide to June. Although it was written for 2026, its advice on climate, the rhythm of the coast and family planning remains just as relevant for 2027.
July is when summer truly settles in. The days are long, the evenings are warm and families begin to build their holiday around the cooler hours of the day. The sea and the pool in the morning, a rest in the shade and the kids' club at midday, back to the water in the late afternoon and dinner in the open air in the evening: this is the most enjoyable rhythm of a July holiday.
In the second half of the month, schools close in North Rhine-Westphalia and across the UK, and the pace along the coast picks up noticeably. For families seeking a quieter stay, the first half of July is therefore the natural continuation of late June. For a cool day out in the July heat, our Manavgat Waterfall day-trip guide is a good place to start: the waterfall lies a short drive from our hotels in the Side area and is easy to explore with young children.
Which are the busiest weeks in Antalya in summer 2027? The busiest period in 2027 runs from the last week of July to mid-August. Schools in Turkey close on 25 June, the German Sommerferien begin on 19 July in North Rhine-Westphalia, on 29 July in Baden-Württemberg and on 2 August in Bavaria, and schools in England and Wales break up around 21-23 July. With all three markets on holiday at once, demand for family rooms is at its highest in these weeks.
August is the liveliest month on the Antalya coast. The sea approaches its warmest point of the year, the hotels enjoy their busiest weeks and the evenings fill with concerts, shows and open-air events. The summer events and concerts held at Kirman Premium in August 2026 were a fine example of the energy this month brings to hotel life. For detailed climate information, see our guide to sea temperature and weather in Antalya in August.
For families with children, the key to August is dividing the day wisely. The early morning is ideal for the sea and the beach, the middle of the day for shaded pool areas, the kids' club and a rest in the room, and the late afternoon for the aquapark and a walk along the shore. At the end of the month, the August bank holiday on Monday 30 August coincides with Victory Day in Turkey, creating a long weekend on both sides that is worth noting well in advance.
The most important decision for families travelling in August is the room type. Family rooms, connecting rooms and locations close to the aquapark are the first to sell out in this month. Our guide to family rooms and beach convenience in Side explains in detail which criteria to consider when choosing a room.
The days around the start of the new school year are one of the most overlooked moments of summer. According to meteorological data, the sea off the Antalya coast is around 27-28 degrees in September: it keeps the warmth built up over the summer, while the coast becomes noticeably quieter as schools reopen. For families with pre-school children, the first weeks of September are among the most comfortable holiday windows of the year.
For British families with school-age children, early September usually falls after the return to school, so the last week of August is the final opportunity of the summer. In Germany, however, schools in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria remain on holiday until the second week of September, so German families will be well represented along the coast in early September. We describe the character of this month in our guide to September in Antalya.
Is early September a good time for a family holiday in Antalya? For families with children under school age, early September is one of the most comfortable times of summer. The sea off the Antalya coast is around 27-28 degrees in September, and the coast becomes calmer as schools reopen. In Germany, school holidays continue until 11 September in Baden-Württemberg and 13 September in Bavaria, while most British schools are back in the first days of September.
Whichever week of summer you choose, the quality of a family holiday depends on how well the hotel is set up for families. At Kirman Premium, this is the role of Premium For Kichies. From the Kichi Kids Bag each child receives at check-in and the Kichi Bar in family rooms, to Play & Stay, which brings a PlayStation to your room, and the Family Assistant, available 24/7 via WhatsApp, every detail of the concept is designed so that parents can enjoy a holiday too.
The benefit with the greatest effect on the family budget is two children up to 12.99 years staying free. We explain step by step how it works, and in which room types and under which conditions it applies, in our guide to family hotels in Antalya. The child policy for the 2027 season will be confirmed when the early booking campaign is announced.
For children, the rhythm of the day is set by the Kichi Kids Club, which welcomes children aged 4 to 12. Activities ranging from robotics and coding to marbling art, painting and a mini disco turn the kids' club from a waiting room into a world where children enjoy a holiday of their own. An RFID wristband that tracks when children leave the club gives parents extra peace of mind. For teenagers aged 13 to 16, the Fun Club is open from 12.00 to 22.00 with PlayStation consoles and popular games; children under 12 can use the Fun Club under parental supervision.
For families with babies, the Baby Star baby care package means that many essentials, from a baby bath and bottle warmer to a pushchair and baby carrier, are ready and waiting at the hotel, and the restaurants serve baby food suited to your little one's age. For children with particular dietary needs, the Kids Chef service brings menus prepared by our chefs, based on the information you share, to the table at the time you choose.
Do children stay free at Kirman Premium, and what ages is the kids' club for? Under the Premium For Kichies concept, two children up to 12.99 years stay free. The Kichi Kids Club welcomes children aged 4 to 12, while the Fun Club for teenagers aged 13 to 16 is open from 12.00 to 22.00 with PlayStation consoles and popular games. For families with babies, the Baby Star package provides essentials such as a pushchair, baby bath and bottle warmer at the hotel.
For families with children, summer largely revolves around water. At Kirman Premium, two addresses stand out: the aquapark at Calyptus Kirman Premium in Side and the mega aquapark at Leodikya Kirman Premium in Okurcalar. Our hotels' children's aquaparks and children's pools, meanwhile, allow the youngest guests to discover the water in shallow, safe areas. Our Calyptus vs Leodikya comparison sets out in detail which hotel suits which family.
For families who prefer the Okurcalar coast, our guide to hotels with piers and aquaparks in Okurcalar brings together what makes the area so well suited to family holidays. A small note for families also considering the months outside summer: with Heated Pool for Kichies, the children's pools are heated to 28 degrees outside the period from 15 May to 16 October.
Adding one or two days of discovery between days at the hotel makes a holiday unforgettable for children. The secret is to keep journeys short and days simple. For families staying in Okurcalar, one of the favourite outings is Sealanya, a short distance from our hotels; we describe a day with dolphins and sea life in our Sealanya Dolphinpark guide.
For families in the Side area, the cool spray of Manavgat Waterfall and a Green Canyon boat tour on the Oymapınar reservoir each offer a peaceful day in nature, away from the heat of July and August. In the evening, the night museum programme in Side and Aspendos offers the chance to explore the ancient sites after sunset. In 2026 it ran from 1 June to 1 October, and the 2027 programme will be added once it is announced. Families looking for a wider selection can browse our top 10 places to visit with children in Antalya.
Kirman Premium's five hotels are spread across two distinct stretches of coast. In the Side area, Sidemarin and Calyptus stand out for their proximity to the ancient city and the lively surroundings of Manavgat, while in Okurcalar, Sidera, Arycanda and Leodikya enjoy a wider, quieter shoreline. We explain the difference between the two areas in our Side vs Alanya guide. Below, you will find three of our hotels that stand out for families with children.
Sidera Kirman Premium, known for its private pier and serene atmosphere, and Arycanda Kirman Premium, renovated in 2024-2025 and set in the heart of nature, also offer the Premium For Kichies benefits. If you would like to compare all five hotels on a single page, our hotel comparison guide provides a comprehensive overview.
For families tied to the school calendar, the defining feature of the summer holiday is that the dates are not flexible. The end of term in the UK, the German state holidays and the Turkish school calendar are all known today, and thousands of families aim for the same weeks. For families with children, early planning is therefore a question of room choice before price: preferences such as a family room, connecting rooms or a location close to the aquapark are far easier to meet the earlier you decide.
The dates and conditions of the Kirman Premium early booking campaign for 2027 have not yet been announced; they will be published on our early booking offers page once confirmed. Free transfers for bookings made via our official website are among the benefits currently available, and the 2027 conditions will be confirmed with the campaign announcement. We have gathered the options for getting from the airport to our hotels in our flight and transfer guide. And for families thinking about a break outside the summer, our October half term guide opens up another window.
In England and Wales, most schools break up for the summer around 21-23 July 2027. Term dates are set by each local council or academy trust, so it is best to check your own school's calendar before booking.
The busiest period runs from the last week of July to mid-August. In these weeks, the school holidays in Turkey, the German state holidays and the UK summer holidays all take place at the same time.
According to the Turkish Ministry of National Education's 2026-2027 calendar, the school year ends on Friday 25 June 2027, and the Turkish summer holidays begin from that date.
Under the Premium For Kichies concept, two children up to 12.99 years stay free. The child policy for the 2027 season will be confirmed when the early booking campaign is announced.
The Kichi Kids Club welcomes children aged 4 to 12. For teenagers aged 13 to 16, the Fun Club is open from 12.00 to 22.00 with PlayStation consoles and popular games.
