October Half Term in Antalya 2026: A Family Guide to Autumn Sun
October is one of the least discussed yet most precisely timed months on the Antalya coast for a family holiday. The summer crowds have thinned, the weight of the midday hours has eased, and the sea still carries the warmth it stored throughout the summer. What brings this picture onto the agenda of families, however, is not the weather so much as the calendar.
Across Europe's four largest source markets, the autumn school holidays converge in the final ten days of October. Within that same week, the sea temperature on the northern shore of the Mediterranean is still above 24 °C. Following on from our guide to the calm season advantage of September, this article examines October not as an extension of summer but as a narrow, measurable window where the school calendar and the sea temperature intersect.

October in Antalya: A Month Defined by the Calendar
According to long term averages, October on the Antalya coast runs at 27.3 °C by day and 15.9 °C by night. Sea temperature sits in the 25-26 °C band, daily sunshine lasts 7.5 hours, and an average of 4.9 rainy days is recorded across the month. Set against the August middays that approach 40 °C, this means an entirely different daily rhythm for a family with children.
The month also changes noticeably within itself. On 1 October the daytime temperature is 29 °C and the sea 27 °C, while by 31 October the day falls to 23 °C and the sea to 24 °C. This gentle slope makes the first half of the month resemble a classic summer holiday, and the second half a balanced programme of mornings on the beach, afternoons by the pool and evenings in the streets of the ancient town.
Seen through a family's eyes, the most valuable detail is that children never have to contend with the heat. The number of hours spent at the poolside rises, the search for shade disappears, and the afternoon nap no longer interrupts the day. Can you swim in the sea in Antalya in October? Yes. The average sea temperature on the Antalya coast in October is 25-26 °C. Measured at 27 °C at the start of the month, the water drops to around 24 °C by the end and remains clearly above the 20 °C threshold regarded as the lower limit for comfortable swimming. Along the Side and Alanya coast the sea does not fall below this threshold between May and December. Daytime air temperature is 27.3 °C and daily sunshine lasts 7.5 hours.
Europe's Autumn Half Term Calendar: Four Markets, One Week
In Germany the autumn holiday, the Herbstferien, is set at state level and the 2026 calendar spreads across a wide range. North Rhine-Westphalia applies 17-31 October, Berlin 19-31 October, Lower Saxony 12-24 October, Hesse 5-17 October and Baden-Württemberg 26-30 October. Bavaria sits at the latest end of the calendar with 2-6 November.
Within this spread, the common window in which the states overlap most heavily is 19-24 October. Flight traffic from Germany also peaks on these days, which makes completing your flight and transfer planning early the most practical preparation step for an October trip.
In England and Wales, October half term falls in the week of 26-30 October in most schools. Because the dates can shift a few days either way from one school to another, it is worth confirming your own school's calendar. Even so, the national weight sits in the last working week of October.
In Russia the dates recommended by the ministry for the autumn school holiday run from 26 October to 3 November. As schools have the authority to set their own calendars, this range is advisory in nature. Since Wednesday 4 November is a public holiday, the holiday window is in practice a day longer for many families.
In which week do the four markets meet during the 2026 autumn half term? The golden window runs from 24 October to 1 November 2026. In Germany the great majority of states are on holiday during these dates, in England and Wales half term falls on 26-30 October in most schools, and in Russia the range recommended by the ministry is 26 October to 3 November. In that same week the sea temperature on the Antalya coast is around 24 °C and daytime temperatures hold in the 25 °C band.
This overlap turns the last week of October into a period on the Mediterranean coast that is both lively and measured. The two areas where our hotels are located answer different expectations in that week: Side comes to the fore for families seeking proximity to cultural excursions, while Okurcalar stands out for calm and a broad stretch of shoreline.
For Turkish Families the Window Falls in November, Not October
In Türkiye the calendar does not align with the European picture. According to the Ministry of National Education calendar for the 2026-2027 academic year, schools opened on 14 September 2026 and the first half term break will run from 16 to 20 November 2026. In other words, the half term window for Turkish families falls in mid November rather than October.
This difference creates two separate opportunities for our domestic guests. The first is the long weekend that forms around Republic Day on 29 October, which allows for a short escape at a time when the sea is still around 24 °C. The second is the official half term break in mid November.
In November the Antalya coast averages 21.6 °C by day and 10.7 °C by night, with the sea at 21-22 °C. The water continues to stay above the comfortable swimming threshold, though the centre of gravity of the day naturally shifts indoors. At this point our heated pools and indoor pool areas form the backbone of the programme.
When is the first half term break in Türkiye for 2026-2027? According to the Ministry of National Education calendar, the first half term break runs from 16 to 20 November 2026, and schools opened on 14 September 2026. While the autumn holidays across Europe gather at the end of October, the window for Turkish families falls in mid November. For guests travelling from Türkiye, the 29 October long weekend and the November half term create two separate planning opportunities. In November the sea temperature is in the 21-22 °C band.
The separation of the two windows is an advantage in planning terms as well. Because the late October peak driven by European arrivals and the mid November period preferred by Turkish families fall in different weeks, both groups of guests find a more relaxed experience on site in the period that suits their own calendar. The Climate of October: The Month the Sea Stays Open
The most striking feature of October is that temperatures fall far more quickly on land than at sea. While the air drops from 29 °C on 1 October to 23 °C on 31 October, the sea retreats only from 27 °C to 24 °C over the same period. The way the Mediterranean releases its heat slowly is the real reason the water remains swimmable even on the last day of the month.
Day length shortens with similar gentleness. From 11 hours and 49 minutes on 1 October, daylight falls to 10 hours and 41 minutes on 31 October. This means bringing the evening programme forward, and it turns the sunset hours along the shoreline into the most photogenic part of the day.
The most telling comparison in the data is this: the sea measured at 24 °C at the end of October is warmer than the May average of 21.4 °C. In a week approaching the close of the season, in other words, the water is milder than in the month that opens it. The beaches of the region are both quieter and usable for longer stretches during this period.
How warm is the sea in Antalya at the end of October? Around 31 October the sea temperature is roughly 24 °C, which is above the May average of 21.4 °C. On the same days the daytime air temperature is 23 °C and the night temperature 13 °C. An average of 4.9 rainy days is seen through October, with total rainfall of around 76 millimetres. Along the Okurcalar and Alanya coast, nights are 1-2 °C milder than on the Side stretch.

The Children's Day: Kichi Kids Club and Fun Club
Kichi Kids Club is an independent world designed for children aged 4 to 12. It houses a cinema, a sleeping room, a music room, a costume room, a children's kitchen and a mini disco. During the autumn half term this indoor richness carries particular value. An average of 4.9 rainy days is recorded in October; when the programme moves from open air to indoors, an afternoon in the children's kitchen or a mini disco evening prepared in the costume room becomes not a fallback that rescues the day but a part of the holiday in its own right.
A separate area is defined for the 13 to 16 age group. Fun Club operates indoors between 12:00 and 22:00 and contains PlayStation units. This section, where our young guests spend time with their own age group, is one of the areas families make the most use of during short and intensive periods such as a half term break.
What facilities are there for children at Kirman Premium? The hours in which children gain a programme of their own also open up space for parents. Water Areas: Aquapark, Outdoor Pool and Indoor Pool
At our hotels the heated pools are kept at 28 °C; pool heating is active outside the 15 May to 16 October period, so the autumn half term falls right inside it. On the water slide side, two of our hotels come to the fore. Leodikya with its mega aquapark and Calyptus with its aquapark place water play at the centre of the family programme. The fact that all five of our hotels have an indoor pool is what determines the flexibility of the plan during autumn stays. A rainy afternoon or a windy morning does not cut the day's relationship with the water. Day Trips Are More Comfortable in Autumn
Excursion programmes that can be demanding for a family with children in the summer months turn into an entirely different experience in October. Sealanya Dolphinpark, 10 to 15 kilometres from Okurcalar, is one of the most practical options for half term days thanks to its short transfer time and shaded areas.
For families staying in the Side area, the nearest stop in nature is Manavgat Waterfall. A spot visited in midsummer to cool down, in autumn it becomes a morning programme in which the sound of the water and the shade of the plane trees take the lead and the walk is never tiring.
The route taking in Alanya Castle, the Red Tower and the Shipyard, 31 to 36 kilometres from Okurcalar, is among the excursions that gain the most from October's mild weather. Which excursions can you do with children in Antalya during the autumn half term? Sealanya Dolphinpark, 10 to 15 kilometres from Okurcalar, Manavgat Waterfall near Side, and the route taking in Alanya Castle and the Red Tower, 31 to 36 kilometres from Okurcalar, stand out. With daytime temperatures averaging 27.3 °C in October, excursions that involve walking become markedly more comfortable for families with children than in the summer months.
The distances between the areas also make planning easier. Side and Okurcalar are 34 kilometres and roughly 34 minutes apart. Alanya town centre is 30 to 42 minutes from Okurcalar, while Aspendos is reached from Side after a drive of about 35 kilometres. Given how short a half term break is, this proximity makes it possible to fit more than one stop into a single day.
What to Consider When Planning Your Half Term
The autumn half term is a short window, and for that reason the choice of hotel matters more than it does for a summer holiday. The children's age group, expectations around an aquapark, the wish to be close to the ancient city and the question of where the evening programme will take place all shape the decision directly. The second heading is timing. The first half of October, with the sea at 26-27 °C, is the part closest to a classic summer holiday. The last week is when the European school calendars meet and the hotels are livelier. If the family's priority is water temperature, the start of the month comes to the fore; if it is the child's school calendar, the end of the month does.
